Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world! It is located in the Andean highlands in the central Andes, within the Collao plateau, at an average altitude of 3812 m S. N. M. Between the territories of Bolivia and Peru. It has an area of 8562 km ² of which 56% (4772 km²) correspond to Peru and 44% (3790 km²) to Bolivia.
Its maximum depth is estimated at 281 m and its mean depth is calculated at 107 m. It consists of two bodies of water separated by the Strait of Tiquina; the largest, located to the north is called Lake Major or Chucuito and has an area of 6450 km², being in this part its greater depth (283 m). the other smaller water body called Huiñamarca located to the south has an area of 2112 km², with a maximum depth of 45 meters.
