FD Program

The Island of Taquile is located 36 Km (22 miles) away from the city of Puno on the Lake Titicaca. It takes a 2 1/2 hour boat ride to arrive in the island’s main dock. The island highest elevation is 4100 m (13451 feet); it has a length of 5 Km (3.10 miles) and a width of 1.5 Km (0.93 miles). Taquile is home of a Quechua population of 2,000 people who are mainly farmers, fishermen and above all renowned weavers.

In our Tour we will have first a visit to the famous Uros floating islands, built using the “Totora” reeds with long leaves that grow in the lake.  After Uros, we will continue to Taquile island and have a Cultural activity on the island.  Finally we will enjoy time for our lunch in a local restaurant.

Program includes:
  • Transfers from / to your hotel.
  • English Guide.
  • Entrances to Uros and Taquile islands.

  • Assistance.

*If your hotel is located outside of city center Puno we’ll indicate a meeting point for departure & return of tour; or in request we offer you transfers with an extra charge.

HOW IS THE WEATHER IN LAKE TITICACA?
The weather is mostly sunny all year round during day time. The skies are mostly clear blue and you have to be careful with the intense sunshine during the day. It is highly recommended to use the strongest factor of sun protection. Sun bathing is not a good idea at these latitude and altitude. Be aware that temperature plummets in the evening, at night, and at dawn. We always need to have a warm winter jacket at hand for the time when the sun goes down.
